Jointly administered by ODHE and the Department of Public Safety’s Ohio School Safety Center, the Campus Safety Grant program funds physical security enhancements to help ensure the safety of students, faculty, and staff.
“With the award of the Campus Safety Grant, we will make further enhancements college wide to continue to ensure our students and staff have a safe learning and working environment,” said Lee Harmon, ĢƵ Chief of Police and Director of Public Safety. “We’re very pleased and grateful that the Ohio Department of Higher Education and the Department of Public Safety’s Ohio School Safety Center have provided us with the opportunity to do so.”
As part of its grant application, ĢƵ conducted a security and vulnerability assessment to identify areas that would benefit from safety enhancements. The College previously received a Campus Safety Grant during the program’s second round of awards in November 2022.
“I commend ĢƵ for making campus—and student—safety a priority,” said Ohio Department of Higher Education Chancellor Mike Duffey. “This latest grant will help ensure that this well-run campus becomes even safer.”
After a successful history of creating a safe campus environment, the Department of Public Safety formed the ĢƵ Police Department in 2020, based on changing campus safety and security standards. Together, the law enforcement, security, and emergency management divisions of the department prioritize the safety of ĢƵ’s Piqua, Greenville, Troy, and Eaton locations.
